[Hesperantha coccinea] We picked this one up at our regular gentian source in Switzerland where it's sold without a variety name, just as the species. We determined it ought to be hardier than others but still have to do more testing to be sure. Either way, it has proven to be a plant with sturdy stems and large, bright salmon-pink flowers. Likes well drained soil, but prefers some summer moisture. Excellent cut flowers. May bloom all winter in zones 8 and higher.
