Same as the species but as the add-on to name implies, blooms about a month earlier. Not only that, it even blooms longer, darker and keeps the foliage longer, too. A hardy and showy ginger relative with large, purple orchid-like flowers throughout the summer. Grows eventually into clumps measuring about 2 feet across. Will take easily bright sun in cooler climates and half shade in hotter regions. May be shipped as bare root early spring or freshly potted plants in May.
