A most striking bulb for the collector from South Africa. The lily-shaped flowers are lavender with a bright purple centers, leaves are pleated and hairy. Needs excellent drained soil, in which they can be possibly grown in USDA zone 8, especially in protected spots like next to a wall. Grows fall through spring, going dormant in summer.
