ORDERS:
• Orders are shipped in the order received. (We will try to honor preferred shipping dates as best as we can) June through January we usually ship Tuesdays. If we receive your order by Friday night, we can usually ship the next Tuesday, but can't guarantee it.

In the main season, February through May, we ship Monday through Wednesday, starting with orders going east of the Rockies. Please allow about two weeks from date of ordering.

For orders going east of the Rockies outside the main shipping season: If you don't indicate a ship date, we'll ship beginning of the next shipping season for that region. Please note that you are responsible to determine the appropriate shipping date for your location. You may also let us know weeks that you can't receive plants.
Shipping hints for potted Sempervivum orders going east of the Rockies: We can fit 6 in a flat rate box for $13.00 and 9 for $16.50. The shopping cart is not able to generate this, but we will adjust the shipping cost manually.
• Substitutions: If we are for some reason not able to complete your order, we will contact you if you'd like a substitute or a deduction on your amount.

• Orders must be accompanied by payment. We accept the following credit cards online: Visa, Master Card and Discover. We don't charge until the day of shipping. Please make sure that the card you are using will be still valid on expected ship date.

• If you have any problems with your order we would be happy to help you. Please contact us within 10 days. We cannot be responsible after 10 days or for more than the price of the plants.

About ordering by phone:

We are not officially set up for phone orders (we have no staff), but are happy to accommodate you if you prefer. Just leave your name, phone number, and best time to be reached if we should be out working. Please keep in mind that it could take a few calls to get a hold of the owner, especially in February and March, as he is often gone to plant shows or getting ready for them.

Shipping Costs

The basics:
For online orders: USPS Priority Mail costs will be automatically generated by the estimated weight we assign to every plant. It will also add a nominal $3.00 handling fee per order. Please note the weight and thus the cost will be an estimate, usually very close to the actual cost. If the difference is significant ($10.00 and over), we will reimburse your account. For example, if the estimated shipping costs are $28.00, but the actual costs are $16.00, we will reimburse you for $9.00, keeping $3.00 for handling. Please understand this is a courtesy service on our part that does take time to do and quite rare in our trade. On top of it, the credit card processing company charges a percentage (again) for returns. Reimbursements under $7.00 are thus not feasible. Also, whenever possible, we'll use flat rate boxes, which are straight forward and we can charge your account correctly in the beginning without having to deal with returns.

For orders by mail/order form: Please use the chart at the bottom of the order form. Pick your region, add the base amount (6.00, 8.00 or 9.00) only once per shipment plus the per plant cost for every single plant. Just like online, this is an estimate and we'll handle eventual reimbursements same as outlined above.

Small orders:
Orders under $20.00 (probably $25.00 as well) are unfortunately not profitable. Every order, no matter the size, has basic processing costs. We do them anyway as a service for folks that just want to try us out or simply don't need any more plants. Also, please keep in mind that all carriers charge much more for the first 5 pounds than the successive pounds.

If you like to read on:
We generally ship US Priority Mail, benefiting you by more affordable rates. Also the packages move over the weekend and are delivered on Saturdays.

Shipping costs are are a challenge to estimate. Please keep in mind that our plant prices don't include any shipping costs. The plants are shipped with intact root balls, making them a bit heavier. We feel the plants will establish faster and it is more convenient for you, especially if you are not able to plant right away. If the shipping cost seems high compared to the plants, it's because our plants have one of the most modest, competitive and fair pricing among mail order nurseries. We are able to do this, because we produce most everything ourselves (the two of us) with some help in the peak season. (for which we are extremely grateful)

In short: We do not make money on shipping.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns by giving us a call or dropping us an email. Thank you!
