Not quite sure about the nomenclature but we do know that thing blooms very dark purple, close to black. It's a smaller Iris easy to integrate into a border and does best in a moist soil.

Absolutely striking flowers; white and heavily spotted in violet-blue, creating a solid zone in the lower part of the falls. Being a laevigata Iris, easy to grow in most any soils but dry and can be planted into a few inches of water as well.

A Siberian iris relative, in all parts smaller and daintier. The flowers are a mid-blue, falls are strongly veined. Grows in moderately spreading clumps. Likes average to wet soil or shallow water.

A dwarf spuria iris, with cream falls veined heavily with lavender-blue, standards are blue with violet base. The slender foliage, dark and glossy, stays through the winter. Moist but well drained soil.
