I was looking for the just plain blue species for over 10 years without luck so far. Anybody? Well, at least I ran into this little charmer with double blue flowers. As with the white single, this plant is very similar to the woodland anemone but doesn't spread at all and likes a bit more sun.

3 1/2" 6 March-May - 6-10" $7.75
Bears 1" and larger starry flowers in usually dark pink-magenta, occasionally white flushed pink with distinctive bluish anthers. The leaves that come out in late fall and stay thru May/June are of thick substance. They are actually much easier to grow than we thought; just well drained soil in full sun to light shade. According to literature they bloom May-June; for us it's March-May.

Another selection we did many years ago and finally have enough to share. This one has constantly an extra set of petals. It opens up quite dark and fades to pink as the blooms mature. Propagated by division. For well drained soils.

A unusual color selection we made a while ago and finally have enough to share. Petals are of a delicate color, contrasting well with the bluish anthers and darker veins. Like most lighter colored selections, the flowers are glistening in the sun like diamond dust.
